Coordinating Schedules

Installations of large scale ventilation systems usually take at least two weeks. In order to eliminate the loss of production time, Woodcraft asked that their project be done in three days in the middle of a Minnesota winter! In order to accomplish this goal, St. Cloud Refrigeration committed extensive planning and engineering resources to the project. Coordination was worked out with the general contractor and all of the subcontractors so that the installation was perfectly timed with other components in the project. In order to avoid congestion with the 50+ workers involved in the plant expansion, we proposed a way to share equipment with the other contractors. Our project manager located fork lifts for Woodcraft to rent directly, thus eliminating equipment congestion on the site floor, and saving money by avoiding equipment markup costs.

In addition to the massive dust removal and air handling components, St. Cloud Refrigeration also installed a 30,000 cfm UL listed smoke removal system that was required to meet fire and safety codes. We added a damper motor that opens the butterfly dampers on top of the fan so that the unit is able to recycle warmed clean air back into the plant during the winter, thus lowering energy usage and reducing operating costs. We also installed a direct digital automation system that controls heating, air conditioning, and ventilation from a centralized monitoring station.
